As a visual artist I seek to navigate the rhythm and tempo of time unfolding. My interest in the transitory experience, connection with the breath and impact of time on perceptions of mortality, has led me to explore methods of presenting captured moments as visual music. As part of a continuous quest to understand invisible forces, my work presents itself as series of mixed media installations, incorporating collaged fragments of video footage, projections and traditional drawing techniques. Inspired by the natural environment, the work is continuously unfolding.
The elements of my practice use drawing, painting, print, sculpture, performance as well as video editing, projections, found objects and digital technologies tofurther explore notions of time, space and invisible forces.
Since graduating from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in 2009, I have exhibited locally and nationally, with work in both public and private collections. I have collaborated with visual artists, composers, authors, theatre practitioners, musicians, computer programmers and various others along the way. With over 20 years of experience in facilitating multidisciplinary creative workshops, I am currently tutoring in arts, crafts and technology with Louth Meath Education and Training Board. I am a founder member of Borrowed Ground Artist Studio initiative, a grass roots organisation determined to secure affordable studio spaces for artists in Drogheda as I am, alongside my colleagues, committed to supporting the value of arts practice and artists to their communities.
