Dara O’Neill is a Drogheda based textile artist, her paintings on silk reflect the changing light of nature creating a sense of calm and quiet on the linear landscape.Using material in a non traditional manner and as an alternative to paper she uses stitches as her pencil, creating movement and freshness in her work, to recreate the manner in which Japanese calligraphy uses brushstrokes. Dara uses hand and machine stitching together with embroidery and hand painting and silkscreen – printing to reflect and document the landscape.
