WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME

Mary-Claire Kehoe , 2016 , Co. Louth

Mary-Claire Creative Spark artist-in-residence July-Sept 2016. Mary- Claire is a professional printmaker based in Gorey, Co. Wexford. Having obtained a BA Hons in Fine Art Printmaking in the Limerick School of Art & Design in 2005, she completed her MA Camberwell College of Art, University of the Arts London, completing her Masters in Printmaking in 2007. Mary- Claire Kehoe’s work showcases a variety of traditional printmaking processes such as collograph, dry point and Monoprint. The artist uses these techniques to produce unadorned but effective abstract imagery of elevated emotional intensity. The works, while having a layered psychological aspect to their understanding, can also stand alone in a formal sense as explorations in the language of abstraction. While the prints maintain this duality, it’s the emotional mark making driven by inner need that adds intensity to the impersonal barriers surrounding abstraction.
