LIAM O’NEILL

Biographical Information:

Liam O’Neill is a woodturner based in Spiddal, Co. Galway. He has won prestigious prizes, commissions and scholarships including the Royal Dublin Society’s Craft Competition and the Dr. Muriel Gahan Scholarship to the U.S.A. He has studied the physiology of trees; what characteristics nature has given to different woods. His training made him an expert in woodturning techniques. This work was sponsored by The Naughton Foundation, Glen Demplex Ltd, Dunleer, Co. Louth and is intended to encourage conversation – all the seats face into each other in a circle. The wood responds to the sitter’s body temperature and the shape forms a cocoon around the sitter, fostering a sense of warmth and safety.
