Rachel Tinniswood is a graduate of Buckinghamshire College, England, where she studied Three Dimensional Design, specialising in Glass and Ceramics. She has been a member of Bridge Street Studios since Spring 2007.
Rachel works as a mixed media textile artist, this suits her experimental nature and resonates with the idea that art can be made from anything.
Rachel creates wearable art pieces, brooches and pendants,embroidery hoop hangings and framed pieces. Her stitched work is textually rich and she would combine contemplative hand stitch with machine embroidery.Her work is inspired by her surroundings, her garden, the wildlife, the land and seascapes where she lives in Co. Louth.
Rachel also works as a facilitator for Rehab Care, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, she also facilitates arts and crafts at the Ladywell Centre, a drop in day service for people experiencing mental ill health.
She has exhibited in Dundalk, Drogheda, Kilkenny and Dublin.
