An exhibition that explores the DRAWDA public art programme.
DRAWDA Mythological Mural Trail, a series of six outdoor murals throughout the town focusing on key figures and moments from Ireland’s mythological past. In partnership with LOVE Drogheda BIDS, this exhibition will explore the DRAWDA public art programme through drawing, concept designs and audio visuals from some of the mural artists. Running all summer in our gallery and curated by artist Dee Walsh. We have also commissioned a new temporary mural for our gallery wall, inspired by local mythology, more news on this in the coming weeks!
The exhibition will also act as a starting point for mural tours every Saturday throughout the summer with mythologist Anthony Murphy, and storyteller Grainne Rafferty.
A schools outreach programme took place in May with four schools in East Meath, with a further outreach programme in schools planned for the autumn.
DRAWDA is produced by Love Drogheda B.I.D.S (Business Improvement District Scheme) and Droichead Arts Centre in partnership with Louth County Council Arts Office and curators Dee Walsh and Brian Hegarty (33-45), and mythologist Anthony Murphy. Funded by the Arts Council under In the Open | Faoin Spéir Initiative, Louth County Council, Love Drogheda BIDS and Town & Village Accelerated Measures funding. Supported by the d hotel, Colourtrend Paints and Murtagh’s of Drogheda.
