Drogheda Comedy Festival 2024 | Deirdre O Kane, Sinead Quinlan and Martin Angolo

Laughter takes centre stage as the inaugural Drogheda Comedy Festival kicks off in March with events happening in venues all over town.

On Saturday 9 March a stellar line of three fantastic comedians including Drogheda’s very own Deirdre O Kane, and Sinead Quinlan and Martin Angolo kick things off at Droichead.

Deirdre O Kane needs to no introduction to Drogheda audiences, one of Ireland’s favourite comedians, Deirdre never strays too far from her live stand-up roots; her new show, Demented, a box-fresh hour of side splitting laughs, is currently touring Ireland and the UK. She is a six-time Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) nominee, and was awarded Best Lead Actress (Film) 2015 for her role as Christina Noble opposite Liam Cunningham, Sarah Greene and Brendan Coyle in Stephen Bradley’s feature Noble.

Sinéad Quinlan is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor from Cork. She first emerged on the comedy scene after winning a comedy competition on RTÉ One winning the opportunity to write a pilot for a four part mini-series  ‘Seriously, Sinéad?’. Since then, Sinéad has landed the role of the ‘Roving Reporter’ on the reboot series of The Den alongside Ray D’Arcy, Dustin the Turkey, and Zig and Zag. She is currently writing a second series for ‘Seriously, Sinéad?’.

Martin Angolo is an award winning Irish comedian who is a regular at comedy clubs and festivals all over Ireland and the UK. He has written and performed comedy for BBC radio, hosts his own podcast “The Substantial Meal” and has had millions of views weekly as a regular contributor of the “Try” Youtube channel. He has supported comedians Eric Andre, Marc Maron, Aziz Ansari and David O’Doherty on their tours. His own live shows play to full rooms at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and sells out all over Ireland, Europe and America.
