Stagnant is a collection of objects, paintings and drawings by Cathy McKeown and Polly Maher exploring the casual attachment to our way of life on the Border and rural Ireland – one that has remnants of control, stillness, and repetition.
Human interactions become reflected in objects and spaces, with personal and work space blurred. Sheds, yards and workshops have a division and duality. The line between functionality, storage and emotional attachment associated with the items we house unceremoniously, is examined.
