This is a workshop on a simple question. How do you begin when the problem isn’t what to write about, but what to leave out? Sometimes we have a character, and we know what we like about them, but not what happens to them. Carys is known for work that’s heavy on concept/research without compromising on richness of character; this workshop will explore strategies for research, development, and writing to help you get from the one-million-ideas stage to the one actual play stage. Participants will be asked to bring a project of their own that they’re happy to talk about. It can be at any level of development – from half-formed elevator pitch to rough draft. There will be group discussion of challenges people are facing, and Carys will offer sample solutions drawn from case-study projects of their own.
