Norah McGuinness: Pioneer

This exhibition invites three contemporary artists whose conceptual and material concerns reflect aspects of McGuinness practice from a love of the city (Dublin-New York) to a fluency around colour and pattern and as well as a dexterity around design, including stage, book design and shop window design, and a prolific exhibiting career.

This exhibition serves to connect the past and the present and the rich links between artists and art practice through time and audiences great enjoyment and engagement when presented with specially loaned and previously unseen works and new work by artists living now.

Curated by Aoife Ruane, with work from public and private collections from Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as invited artists.

Norah McGuinness and Nano Reid were the first artists to represent Ireland at the Venice Biennale in 1950. This winter seminar reflects key themes in the exhibition as well as exploring ideas of EU connection for artists in their practices from 1950 and now.
