JOHN O’CONNOR

Biographical Information:

John O’Connor was born in Cork city in 1956, and educated at the Crawford school of Art, Cork and the University of Ulster, where he received an M. Phil. His art practice includes Painting, Drawing, Photography, Community based projects and Sculpture, and he has exhibited both nationally and internationally. He is better known for his Public Art work, and has been awarded over 30 major commissions since 2000. These include works across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Some of these commissions were community based projects, involving schools and community groups. Between 2004 and 2012, John was a member of the board of Waterford Healing Arts trust at Waterford Regional Hospital. His work is in many public and private collections including OPW, Central Bank, AIB, Waterford City Council and Waterford Institute of Technology. He Lectures at Waterford Institute of Technology in Art and Photography.
