MICHEÁL MCKEOWN

Biographical Information:

Micheál McKeown was born in Dromiskin, Co. Louth. He is mainly self-taught but did spend time studying portrait painting under at The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. He has been a full time artist and sculptor since retiring from engineering in 1993. He has exhibited widely as a solo artist and also as part of group exhibitions. He has worked as a teacher in DKIT and Ardee Community School. He works through a variety of media including bronze, marble, limestone, wood, terracotta and stainless steel. In addition to this, he is a published historian and draws extensively on his knowledge as inspiration for some of his work. Examples of his work can be found in many public, corporate and private collections in Ireland, Europe, the UK and the USA.
